• The plugin is not saving settnigs. So, I went into the DB on GoDaddy and I cannot find the DB that holds the settings so I can just edit it there.

The settings panel is trying to call files for the lightbox effects from an older server install. When we migrated, it kept the old paths to the CSS file and scripts. When I try to edit them in the plugins settings Other Settings > Lightbox Effects they will not save.

But when I go to GoDaddy and search the DB, I cannot find references to the wrong links the plugin clearly shows it is looking for. How is that possible? Shouldn’t the plugin be saving the settings savings to the DB?

If not, where are the plugins settings being saved to?

When I look into the plugins settings for Other > lightbox effects the URLs to the lightbox source files seen are NOT found in a DB search of the wordpress DB on GoDaddy. How is that possible?

@lock-n-load – Most (all?) migration related issues are generally sorted out by using the Reset Option under Gallery > Other Options … give that a try and see if it helps.

    Thanks!

we don’t have that in the version of the plugin we use.

plus, I am afraid if I install the newer version that has that, it will bork all of the work and such that has been done?

@lock-n-load – I would recommend a full verified backup of you site (just in case) and then update to the latest version of NextGEN Gallery as you best go forward option.

The back-up will allow you to restore the site if things go sideways and using the Reset Option will put most of the gallery settings back to their defaults.

so when you do this and hit the reset, do you loose all of your galleries and images and such you have uploaded? OR do you just loose the settings?

And if you only lose the settings, would you advise taking screenshots of the settings before hand so I can mimic them under the new plugins settings?

@lock-n-load – You galleries, albums, images etc. will remain intact … the previously inserted galleries, etc. will also be safe if they were inserted via the ATP/IGW (“green button”) … the worst case is you will loose your settings.

Shortcode structures will display galleries based on the defaults until you change them as the case may be.

Taking screen captures of each settings page you have modified would be one of the easier ways to reference the settings.

You may need to clear your image cache under Gallery > Other Options > Miscellaneous after the Reset as well … sometimes clearing the browser cache may be necessary but that is not very common.

seems a lot easier to just go into the DB, or wherever your plugin stores the settings data, and fix these wrong URLs coded to the dev server we had. but the thing is, they show in the plugins settings, but yet, you cannot find them in the wp DB. so I am still curious, where are they stored and how is your plugin showing URLs in the settings that cannot be found in the wp DB?

@lock-n-load – If you decode and de-serialize all of the database data you should be able to locate everything you need to change but the safest (and easiest) method is to use the Reset Option of a current release of NextGEN Gallery.

    Lock-N-Load:
Try the option to delete localization files.
    Path: /produc/photorati_nextgen/modules/i18n/lang/
In some language translations of the error. You can try. Edited the file: Delete translation for “Save”. This helped me.

thanks I will try and report back.

I wa able, in a bizarre way, to try the settings to allow me to change the settings for Fancybox and what I did was delete the settings for all of the options (lightbox, fancybox, etc) and then only fill in fancybox and it took it. BUT, it then reverted the other deleted ones back to their old path URLs, but kept fancybox URLs as my newly updated ones. How odd is that?

@lock-n-load – if @mirekk premise this is a translation related issue then we do have that corrected in our latest internal beta version.

If you are interested in testing the beta version then please submit a Bug Report (https://www.nextgen-gallery.com/report-bug/ … please reference this topic) with your site details so we can get a copy out to you.

    Thanks!

path of least resistance for me right now to make client happy is to try mlrekk’s option – as that is fast and quick. if that works, I need to accept that as my solution and move on, if not, I need to try your beta.

@lock-n-load – Among other items, the issue with the translation of the “Save” on the Gallery > Other Options page has been addressed in the beta.
