I have a question around the placement of ads on custom page templates.

I’ve skimmed the code and understand the mechanism behind it, but my situation just does not seem to have a resolution.

I have a page, called supplier-page.php, which is a custom template I built to display a collection of supplier listings. On this page I have a side bar that should display ads in a certain dimension.

I’ve set up an Ad Place, called Supplier Large Ad Place and added two dummy ads in the dimensions I need to this place.

I’ve then gone ahead and added an Ad Zone, with the default pointing to the Supplier Large Ad Place (containing my two dummy ads).

This process is working 100% on normal, not template pages but when I add the Ad Zone widget to the sidebar on the supplier page, nothing shows up.

Am I doing something wrong? There is no option in Ad Zone to define the use of a custom page, and in the code for the plugin I can clearly see that the rendering is limited to WordPress templates only, or am I doing something wrong?

At the simplest level, this plug in works exceptionally well, but as soon as you start extending WordPress with page customization (which most developers do), the plug in fail miserably.

Any help in getting this sorted on custom page templates would be greatly appreciated.
