[gallery] shortcode: after clicking on image expanded view is blank
-
hi everyone
i’m having a bit of trouble with the built-in gallery shortcode.
on my site, the gallery appears, but the carousel view seems broken. the black frame appears, but there’s no image, i can’t go to the next image, and pressing escape or clicking on the ‘x’ in the corner doesn’t close it. you have to reload the page to make it disappear. in short, some of the code for it doesn’t seem to be loading or running properly.
the code i’m using is this:
‘[gallery id="6197"]‘and here’s a link to the page that isn’t working:
https://www.humanrightskorea.org/2014/safety-deafness-korea-koyang-bus-terminal-fire/(the ID isn’t the same as the page it’s posted on. i did this because the post where i want it is a recent one that my readers will be looking at, but the other post is an old one that is unlikely to be viewed. it’s just there temporarily.)
as described here,
https://en.support.wordpress.com/images/gallery/,
i should get a nifty “carousel view” when i click on one of the images, a large view with the caption and meta data for the image and everything, like the one on that page.can anyone tell me why this isn’t working as intended? in the media settings there’s no “enable carousel” option as described on the support pages (here), but the carousel sort of appears so i don’t think that’s the issue.
i have not tried this while running a different theme because A) i don’t want to make a big change like that to the live site, and B) i’m afraid that if i switch to a different theme and then switch back i’ll lose some of the settings or customization that i had. if there’s a safe way to test a different theme i’m happy to try.
