    The smiley indicates that WordPress.com Stats is working on your site and is added when you activate stats on your site.

    You can choose to hide the smiley. Go to Jetpack –> Settings in your dashboard, find the WordPress.com Stats feature in the alphabetized list, and click the “Configure” link that appears when you hover your mouse over it. Then, check the box next to “Hide the stats smiley face image” and save to hide the smiley.
