Photos not appearing in posts

Just getting my site set up. I see that my featured images are fine. However, other photos that I insert into the body of the posts show up as broken image boxes if I insert them as static images, and if I try it as a gallery, then the gallery box just continually shows “loading” but never shows the photos. Not sure what I’m doing wrong? Please help!
