• I am using Next Gen static gallery thumbnails with captions. I am calling them with shortcodes such that the width and height of my thumbnails are specified in the shortcode. The thumbnails display beautifully in the width that I want them until I add the caption shortcode. Then different cropped images display. I have inspected the thumbnails and I’m positive that a completely different set of cropped images are parsing.

    I’ve added shortcode to override thumb settings and also to over ride thumbnail cropping i.e.

    override_thumbnail_settings=”1″ thumbnail_crop=”0″

    My images are exactly the size I want them. There is plenty of room for full size thumbnails. I don’t want them being cropped. Where is the code that is causing this to happen? I have looked at gallery-caption.php and don’t recognize anything that would crop these thumbnails.

    I have also tried fixing this with css, which definetely is not the solution.

    Also please note, I have the images displaying in 3 columns. This is correct and what I want.

    @geologist – When using the NextGEN Legacy “captions” template most, if not all other customizations will not be honored. In most cases you will need to modify the gallery itself as well as the Gallery > Gallery Settings > NextGEN Basic Thumbnails display settings to attempt what you are trying to accomplish.

    – Cais.

    I have modified the gallery settings. The settings are being ignored. These are my settings:

    Gallery > Gallery Settings

    and for

    Gallery > Gallery Settings > NextGEN Basic Thumbnails

    Override thumbnail settings: yes
    Thumbnail dimensions: 180 x 152
    Thumbnail crop: no

    Thanks for your help. I didn’t realize that WordPress has a built in Gallery feature. I’m using that. It’s doing exactly what I need and VERY simple.
