Is this a new kind of hack?
-
I went to my blog to continue working on an article and saw I had to log in. That was odd because I had “remember me” ticked so I figured I could just stroll in, but it was asking for my name and password. OK, I typed in my name and password and it told me I was wrong. I tried again, wrong again and it asked if I wanted to reset my password. Then it told me that my email address didn’t exist!
I did have one email address that it still recognized and sent for a password. That’s when I found out the name was “Rodney” instead of my real admin name. I was able to log in as Rodney, but that was about all I was able to. Despite saying it was an admin log-in, it really wasn’t. There was a dead dashboard where it displayed my last 5 articles, but they were unclickable. They couldn’t be edited, which I guess is a good thing.
In fact the only clickable part was the WordPress News area. The only other thing I could see was Rodney’s profile and 5 comments that had been made and were also unclickable.
What can I do?
