    The smush.it service only allows images up to 1MB in size, EWWW IO has no size limits. EWWW IO optimizes PNG images better, does lossy optimization, allows stripping metadata for smaller sizes, and can perform image conversion to the smallest image format. Lastly, EWWW IO supports optimizing literally every image on your wordpress site (themes, gallery plugins, slider images, etc.), whereas WP Smush.it only does your media library.

    You can optionally use the cloud service for EWWW IO instead of changing webhosts: https://www.exactlywww.com/cloud/
    My cloud service has only had 1 outage, whereas the smush.it service is not exactly the most reliable thing I’ve ever seen. You get what you (don’t) pay for.
