    Hi,
the French translations are still not included in the plugin! Is it possible to add them please – 70 Millions french users are waiting for that to happen ??

Just register over Transifex, let me know and i’ll give you maintener role to grab the files

    Hi fxbernard,

Thanks for letting us know. Since none of our team actually speaks French, we can’t actively maintain that file ourselves, so we’d be doing everyone a disservice to include something that we can’t add to as we update strings.

But thanks for posting it for others who do speak it!

    Hi There,

    @fxbernard : le fichier de traduction en Fran?ais est ici : https://www.securysee.fr/trad/AWPCP-fr_FR.po

The link just here above is the .po file for French.
I followed step by step your instructions to install a translation in the plugin directory. I checked the file her above with PoEdit, it seems to work properly, but nothing happened the plugin still stays in EN. My wp-config file is properly set.

What do you think goes wrong ?

I tried to find the way also to translate the emails sent to people who place an ad, but did not find it. Into which file of the plugin can I change that ?

Thank you so much for this amazing plugin !!

    Thanks.

    Hi Hector7,

You might want to go through the checklist we have on here: https://awpcp.com/quick-start-guide/#qs-translate

It’s possible you just missed one step in that somewhere. That should help you get started with activation.

    Hi,

I followed this step by step.
First of all, the AWPCP.po in the main folder does not exist, I supposed it was the AWPCP.pot file into /language folder.
I have in this folder the .pot file, ES and EN translations .po files and .mo files
I put the FR .po file into it, but all the plugin still stay in EN language.
I have checked the box to turn on the translations into settings

Do I need to unistall and reinstall the pugin, and by the way loose all the settings I made ?

    Thanks for your help

    Hi,

I found (special thanks to Alain who has translated the pugin and put online the files and helped me in this matter) where the problem was.

In fact in your tutorial you should add a precision to help people when using poedit : the .po file is needed for the tranlation, and when you save into poedit the .po file, poedit generate automatically the .mo file. The .mo file is needed by the web browser to show the translation, without .mo file, no translation will be shown.

It’s the step I ignored, so now it’s working perfectly !

Thanks again for your amazing job !

Thanks Hector, we’ll update the instructions to be more clear. Sorry for the hassle here!

    Hi,

sorry I missed all the discussions about that, yes only the mo file is needed for a plugin to be translated.

@awpcp I thing you missed my point but nevermind.

WP-Translations is a Community of Translators using Transifex as WordPress uses GlotPress.
The idea is only to use our platform for your translations. You can pull and push automatically pot files as you can push and pull translations files.
Of course you don’t speak all languages, I don’t also. The file is maintained by the translators. I always thought that 300 people are thougher that 1 on his side with his Poedit and a plugin translated even to 90% is better than no translations at all. But I maybe wrong.

To bad I missed my point, I will erase the project from our Community.
    All the best.

    Hi fxbernard,

I don’t see a need to erase the plugin from your project if others are doing the contribution–I did miss the point, I thought you were asking us to do the translation, not that it was already done.

Please keep it around for others, if that’s the case (you’ll notice that I did say ‘Great resource’ above).
