A few weeks ago I got someone to do SEO work. She changed titles and descriptions for my pages. The work wasn’t good and I want to go back to my old titles and descriptions.

How do I access this specific info from the backup?
Do I need to restore, and if so, what exactly do I restore (the database? others?). Will I then lose my latest posts?

Is there a way to just view the old meta data so I could copy and paste it manually?

To state the obvious, I understand nothing about how the backup works. I made the blog myself, so no webmater to turn to.

I’d be very appreciative for any guidance.
    Thanks guys!

    Hi paleolove,

This is part of the database backup. Restoring the database would, though, of course restore *everything* in the database, not just a little bit. So, you will want to (either yourself, or via some expert help) open up the database file (it’s a standard SQL file), and pick out just the bits that you want from it.

    Hi David,
Thanks for taking the time to reply!

I’m not familiar with SQL files. Is this something I could learn to do or shoild I look for expert help? Is there any link or video you could direct me to?

    Thanks!

    Hi,

You’d need to be familiar with both SQL and the WordPress database structure; I don’t have any specific recommendations – Googling would probably bring up a few things; but it’s a steep learning curve if both are new to you!
