• After searching everywhere for the reason that pages are not updating properly, I found nothing But don’t panic messages. Well I am not panicking but a little disappointed that 3.9.1 was released without proper checks. I have been unable to save changes properly to pages since the update, this is only on our single Sites, the Multi site is fine.

I do an update to a page, Click Publish and half my update or the original page vanishes in to thin air and is not in the auto save either.
I have used Word press for years so I do know what I am doing.

So after many frustrating days, last night I did 2 clean installs, one on the site were updating and one on my test bed, both with no Plugins installed and running twenty fourteen theme, and guess what, it still wont save the pages, if I copy paste into to Non Visual and hit Publish it only saves about the top 25 lines.

So there is an issue with 3.9.1 somewhere.

  • The issue is specific to your site. Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder and wp-config.php & root .htaccess files – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

I have 12 other sites running WordPress, it is only happening on a clean build, all the updated sites are fine.

It only saves 33 lines of code, Visual is off as I don,t use it.

Both Installs stop at exactly the same line 33, they are on separate IP’s and Databases.

    Any Ideas?

Try checking your site’s error logs for a more specific error message. Your hosts should be able to help you accessing your site’s error logs.

this is the error being produced.
File does not exist: /home/web4biz/public_html/404.shtml, referer: https://webhosting4business.co.uk/wp-admin/post.php?post=2614&action=edit&message=1

However i can edit post in Database fine.

Try re-uploading all files & folders – except the root wp-config.php & .htaccess files and the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

    Trying that now

    Ok tried that still get:
File does not exist: /home/web4biz/public_html/404.shtml, referer: https://webhosting4business.co.uk/wp-admin/post.php?post=2614&action=edit&message=1

This doesn’t even exist /home/web4biz/public_html/404.shtml, no such file.

Did you make sure that you deleted the old copies of files & folders before uploading the new ones.

Deleted everything but wp content and htaccess and config, re installed from fresh download after deleting all other files, and i still get exactly 33 lines on every single page no matter how much text is there, the min i edit, it saves only the 1st 33 lines.

Then this would appear to be a server issue. Have you contacted your hosts about it?

    Thread Starter webmaster4business

    (@webmaster4business)

Esmi I realize you are trying to be helpful, but you are telling me things I have already done, in duplicate.

    Fresh Installs, duplicated.
    No Plugins, Duplicated.
    New Fresh Databases, duplicated
Remove all but config, htacess and wp-content and reinstal from fresh copy, duplicated.

both sites on different IP’s and using different Databases are both producing identical Results, I can only write 33 lines per page unless i do my editing in the database.

So what did your hosts say?

    Thread Starter webmaster4business

    (@webmaster4business)

I am the Host, and am running 15 sites and a 50000 user mutlisite.
All are fine except the 2, I created 3 days ago using 3.9.1 in a fresh install. One as a rebuild of our main Hosting site (costing me money having it down and the new test bed to make sure all clients plugins work with 3.9.1

I will speak to my guys and see if they can figure it out. 5 Years never an issue, last 3 days loosing my Hair.

    (@webmaster4business)

Ok no luck, According to my Hosts, everything is working fine.
Which of course I already knew as I host 15 sites and they all work fine, with 3.9.1.

When I hit Publish, i get about a 10 second roll and 33 lines are all that is saved. However, if i go to my Database and update directly there everything is fine.

Since i have read over 200 posts about virtually the same issue, it must be something to do with the install as it is only effecting Fresh Installs and not updates.

I have no option but to roll back to a version I know works.

As i Need my Site working.
