• I am in way over my head and do not understand any of the posts about fixing a missing stylesheet. Tonight I updated my iribbon theme and then suddenly my site reverted to another theme and said iribbon was broken because of a missing stylesheet.

I looked in the zip folder to try to find the Theme folder that so many said to upload again, and there is no theme folder.

I really don’t know what to do at all and appreciate your kindness. I’m afraid I ruined my site ??

  • Have you in any way modified the style.css from the iRibbon theme? because if not, you can redownload the theme on your computer and get the style.css, or if you already have the theme in a zip file, you can extract the zip file somewhere easily located, and locate the style.css and upload it back to your server where the theme is installed.

If you already have modified a great amount of code in your css, I’m afraid you’ll reset back to the default iRibbon styling if you can get a way to download back its style.css.

I never modified anything about the style.css. I’m did redownload the theme and that’s where I get confused I guese. I extracted the zip file to my desktop and opened it up to find the style.css Tutorials all say there is a nice Theme folder here, and I don’t see that. I do see a style that is a cascading style sheet document (that’s the same as a style.css right?). I tried to upload it under appearance, themes, add new, upload and it says
    Unpacking the package…

The package could not be installed. PCLZIP_ERR_BAD_FORMAT (-10) : Unable to find End of Central Dir Record signature

i thought maybe i could reinstall all of iribbon again but get this
    Unpacking the package…

    Installing the theme…

    Destination folder already exists. /home1/evans508/public_html/wp-content/themes/iribbon/

    Theme install failed.

As you can tell, I barely put together my site in the first place and have no clue what I’m doing. I’d really like to get iribbon back in place.

Yes style.css is a cascading style sheet file.

Is your site hosted locally? Or online?

If locally, navigate through your site: <site name>/wp-content/themes/iribbon/ then copy and paste the style.css from your desktop.

If online, you need to have ftp access on your site and navigate to the themes folder inside <site name>/wp-content/themes/, there you can find all the themes installed on your wordpress site, if you can find the “iribbon” folder there, go inside it, and upload the style.css from your desktop there.

upload it back to your server where the theme is installed.

I think this is where I’m not doing it right. All I know to do is upload a theme in the wordpress dashboard. Is that my server where the theme is installed?

Hosted on Hostgator. I have no clue about ftp access. I do hope you forgive my cluelessness.

Do I need to download a FTP program?

Ok I’m afraid I made it worse. I figured out going to hostgator, cpanel, and my files. I uploaded the style.css to what I thought was the right place. Now on wordpress my theme is not listed as broken anymore but there is nothing appearing for it. I got this error

Fatal error: Call to undefined function cyberchimps_get_option() in /home1/evans508/public_html/wp-content/themes/iribbon/header.php on line 90

Oh my goodness I think I figured it out! Thanks so much for dealing with me, rolzan.
