How To: Use a text widget to display content dependant on the post

  • I have been trying to figure out how I could use a text widget in the sidebar that would display html content (or PHP defined code) but dependant on the post…

    in other words…

    if I have a post that talks about carrots I would like to have in my side bar a widget displaying other content related to the carrots post..

    and if I have another post on egrolls I would like the text widget that is in the same sidebar in the same place, displaying my custom content related to egrolls.

    Anyone have any suggestions?

    I know that obviously I have to have th eoption to insert the custom widget content when I am inserting the post and I have tried the custom fields, but I got lost because I don’t know how to use them.

  • I can’t find the link, but try a google (or your favorite search engine) search for “wordpress related posts widget”. There’s at least one out there that seems like it’d do just what you’re after.
