I noticed a couple months ago that the conventional methods for embedding YouTube, Dailymotion and videos from popular video sharing sites has changed.

You can no longer go to the WP.com or WP.org dashboard, click on add media then insert the URL of the video or the URL of the page where the video is hosted and have your video successfully embedded. you can only click copy embed code in YouTube and you have to jump through hoops for dailymotion videos. Why has this changed and is this a wordpress thing or some new method by the managers of video sharing websites?

Regardless of whomever changed this process I would appreciate if it were reverted in the next version of wordpress, both .com and .org. I have been posting and asking around like crazy on tech forums as to how to make the videos from Vimeo and Dailymotion be able to be resized to fit the theme’s window/frame, and someone recommended a plugin to me to do this but it doesn’t work.

I just want to see a physical box in the dashboard after inserting the media so i can drag and drop edges to make the video appear however big or small I want it on the screen. but this isn’t working as in Dailymotion embed videos i only have a code and there is no way to see how the videos will look by means of a preview.

Can someone please recommend a free or paid plugin for this, preferably free? I need my videos to be appropriate on my blogs. I am running the latest version of WordPress.
