• First off, thank you for this great extension to the native WP Search functionality.

There is one thing I would love to be able to do to extend this further. I would really like to be able to make the search results clickable to take me directly to the highlighted result.

When search results populate I have highlights for the correct words but no post/ page titles and no way to link into these results. Just an excerpt from the entry containing the results.

All content has been added to one long post (the website is for a a web version of a printed booklet) and has been internally divided into pages using the <!--pagebreak--> call. Would this be a cause for confusing the search results or linkage.

Ultimately it would be great if there was a way to do your search, then be able to click on a given word in the results to link through directly to that area of the site.

Please let me know if this is possible, or if there is anything I can add to the code to achieve this.

My php skills are fairly limited but I can follow instruction OK!

    Thanks

    Martin

  • Hey Martin,

big thanks for all the nice words & ideas about our plugin — much appreciated, really!
To be completely honest – although a great idea to have the results linking to the area that they are located – this is a bit too ambitious for us for the time being. As for your issue…we are very curious why this is happening (it could be because of that pagebreak, I will try to replicate it on our side), so if you don’t mind and take a screenshot of what you are seeing on your side? Also, a link to your blog would be more than helpful ??

Take care and have a nice weekend,
    Petra
