Two things I’m confused about: I set up the WP paypal cart, and I did a test purchase.

First, I didn’t get the ’email to buyer’ that I’d set up in the “Email Settings” area of WP Shopping Cart. I did get the confirmation from ‘service@paypal’ or whatever it is called. But where would the plugin even get the buyer’s email address? I didn’t get the seller sale confirmation from wordpress either, only from paypal.

Second, I set up a return URL thank you page where the buyer is supposed to be redirected after purchase. I wasn’t redirected there; after payment I was still on paypal, but had the option to click on ‘return to website’ (paraphrasing). Does a buyer have to click on that to get automatically back to the thank you page?

    thanks for any help

Hello fgilles02420, please read the following URL to further understand how to set up this plugin.

    Kind regards

Thanks, I checked that link but I didn’t see the questions I asked addressed?

I have an email to buyer and email to seller set up in “settings” but neither seems to be working.

And I have a “return to” URL set up, but that doesn’t seem to be working either. Any help would be appreciated.

So you are having problems with your e-mails not being sent is that correct? If you make a purchase does the shopping cart work?

    Yes, that’s right.

I set up a test purchase from my personal paypal account into the business account designated on the website for the shopping cart. The transaction goes through, and the transaction and money appear in our business paypal account so that’s all good.

But I don’t get an email notifying me of the sale as the seller (even though I’ve set it up in the settings). And I didn’t get an email confirming my purchase as the buyer (also set up). I do get the emails generated from paypal – just not from the plugin.

Also I set up a return landing page to thank buyers, and I wasn’t redirected there after the purchase.

Hi can you enable debug testing and check the log file.

What is the e-mail address you are entering in the e-mail settings?

    Hi,

(First, I’m sorry if I’m missing something; how does the plugin even have a buyer’s email address to send anything to? If you just put items in a cart, then click to go to paypal I don’t see where the buyer even puts in an email address?)

This is exactly what I have entered into the field ‘message to buyer’: (ie this is the “from” address)
    Middlesex Conservation District <[email protected]>

This is exactly what I have entered into the field or seller notification:
    [email protected]

I’ve checked the enable debug file, and paypal sandbox testing box, but I’m not sure what I’m supposed to do after that.

Also, do you have any idea why I wasn’t redirected to our ‘thank you page’? I set up a page in wordpress, then used the URL to paste into the settings box designated for it. But after payment I stayed on paypal, although I think there was a link I could click to return to our website.

Hi fgilles02420, I think I know what is the issue. Yahoo has changed their security options. That is probably why you are not receiving any e-mails from or through yahoo. Please read the following URL even though it is from a different plugin. I hope this puts you in the right track.

    Kind regards

Thank you for the link, but that explanation was way over my head. The email notification, or lack of it, isn’t too bad as both buyer and seller get notifications from paypal – at least that’s what happened when I did a test purchase.

I’m more concerned about a buyer not being redirected to the thank you page that I’ve set up – there is critical info on it that I’d like them to see (ie, we don’t ship, you have to pick up). Any ideas how I can get that to happen?

Hi fgilles02420, can you share your URL.

    Thank you

I went to get the URL and may have figured out the problem – I had the ‘thank you’ return landing page only as a draft and it wasn’t published! So I’ve gone ahead and published it – but now there is strange text at the top about an invalid argument (take a look):

    Home page: https://middlesexconservation.org/

Return landing page (now published): https://middlesexconservation.org/?page_id=1073

Hi can you check the landing page Title? If you use the correct permalink tag then your URL should be something like this

https://middlesexconservation.org/landing-page or what ever is your title.

The following does not look correct (?page_id=1073)

That is probably what is causing the warning on the header.

    Hi.

I set up the page following the video demo on the plugin page.

I setup a thank you page, published it – then copied the URL (that wordpress assigned to the page) and pasted it into the “return landing” box under WP shopping cart settings.

The video made it seem very straightforward so I don’t know why it isn’t working – I’m literally following the instructions step by step?

I even tried just putting our home page as the landing page:(https://middlesexconservation.org/)

and I get the same ‘invalid argument’ text when I go to it

Hi I just clicked on the link above https://middlesexconservation.org/?page_id=1073 and it is not showing any errors on my browser.

Which browser are you suing? Can you also clear your browser cache?

    Thank you

I’m using IE 11, and I have it set to clear browsing history on exit. I see the same text if I use Chrome.

The reason you didn’t see the ‘invalid argument’ text was because I had removed it from the landing page box. I put it back and the text has returned:
