• Hi There,
I recently bought a theme (from Theme Forest) in order to put together a swankier website than I could do. The theme obviously needs WordPress to run.

I have tried therefore to install WordPress using the descriptions both on the WordPress pages and via my hosting provider (Fasthosts).

I have uploaded the WordPress files via FTP to my remote server and they all seem to be there in the remote server, but then when I try to put the Install address into my browser nothing useful comes up.

I have changed the settings in my hosting provider (Fasthosts) to enable PHP, plus have set up a database. Also I have manually put the database data into the Config file. But still no joy.

To be honest, I’m probably in above my head in terms of technical difficulty, but all I want is a functioning website which I have a bit of control over.

    Any help very gratefully received.

    Thanks in advance.
    Phil Haskins

    Hi Tara,
    Thanks for this.
I have already read this and think I have covered most of the items in there.
Is there a part of it you think that I should concentrate on more, or just that I should read again and try to work out where I’m going wrong.
I look forward to your thoughts.
    Thanks.

have you discussed the issue with your hosting provider?

No, I haven’t actually. I’ll try that and then get back to you.
    Many thanks.

Installing WP thru FTP can be a bit intimidating. After looking up your host provider they do seem to have a One Click install for WordPress. It may be a bit intimidating at first but if you follow the steps closely, you will likely get there.

Here is the link that I found: https://help.fasthosts.co.uk/app/answers/detail/a_id/614/kw/wordpress%20install

Also, as Tara suggested, you may want to ask for help. I have found that most hosting companies are quick and responsive when it comes to WordPress.

Hope that it goes well, you can never go wrong with WP.

    Hi Renee,
Sorry for belated reply. Many thanks for the response and the ideas. I’ve actually taken up Tara’s idea and gone to my web hoster help people. They seem to know what they’re talking about and have direct access to my files so I’m quietly confident that they’ll get the situation sorted.
Will keep you in the loop if they’ve still got problems etc.
    All the best
    Phil
