Navigation menu disappearing

    Hello world,

    Someone please help! Items on my navigation menu bar have been packing up and mysteriously disappearing without a trace!

    All ‘page’ menu items have disappeared into the ether twice over the last week, for no rhyme or reason, leaving only two ‘category’ menu items remaining.

    It is going to be very tricky to isolate a plugin that may be causing the kidnapping as the disappearing act only happens out of the blue and may take a couple of days….

    If I were to test each plugin it could take weeks. Not to mention the arduous time it takes to re-build the menu after each disappearance.

    Someone, please!!

  • I’m also having the same problem, I updated plugins and accidentally cancelled and my wp went into maintenance mode, a couple of minutes later it started working again and i continued to update the plugins but then the menu stopped working? I changed the theme to 2014 to see if it was the theme and the menu worked on it, so i’m assuming its the theme? I also updated the wordpress from 3.9 to 3.9.1 as i hadn’t already done so

    Sean was having a different issue but our problem still stands.

    Anyone ever figure this out? A client is having the same issue (pages disappear, categories remain).

    Hello, I have the same problem. The menus just vanished. Already deactivated and active the plugins and do not solve the problem. I am afraid to change the theme as it is from a third part. HELLLPPP!!!!

    Hey you lot – I figured it out on my site. A plugin was the culprit (stealth publish).

    hello – this is my first go on a forum – I’ve been running a site for 3 years and never a problem until today – I updated to the latest wordpress today and all the menus have disappeared plus the editor has gone blank…
    I’ve looked for the ‘disable plugin’ button to try resetting them but I can’t find it – I suspect the theme may be out of date but there’s no option to update it…

    there should be 6 main menu buttons with 8 drop down menus – but now there’s only one button…I even tried the ‘reinstall 4.1.1 option but that doesn’t work

    Hi there

    I’m suffering from the same issues. menus items disappear at the bottom of the list when i add items in the middle of at the bottom of the menulist. I can add items in the menu, but on the moment of saving the last items at the bottom dissapear as does the “check mark” in the primary menu. Any clues on this. I deactivated all plugins and changed to a standard theme but problem still exists

    Similar issue – my menus are still available and working but when I go into APpearance | Menus to add new items neither the main nor the sidebar menus are visible when selected.

    Same with my home page: it is visible and functioning on the site but when I go to EDit Page it opens the editor with nothing visible in the wysiwyg OR text box

    I am using theme Twenty 14, and have recently updated to WordPress 4.1.1 so am wondering if it is a theme compatability issue?
