Whitelisting problem preventing use.

    I recently downloaded and installed Ithemes security but I’m having trouble whitelisting IPs. I am unable to log in to my site from my phone and every time i try i get an email saying that an unknown IP is trying to get in. It prompts me to click a link to allow that IP but when I do and add it to the Lockout White List and then save, the problem persists.

    Additionally, my co-admin gave me his IP so I could add it to the whitelist but when i did that, he was still unable to log in. when he attempted, however, i got no email notifying me that he even tried to log in to the site.

    It seems like the IPs saved in the lockout whitelist aren’t working and I’m unable to find any information regarding what to do.

    I am running version 4.2.4 and I am still having the above problem.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    and were generally very pleased so far (began using when it was still called Better WP Security and also had a smooth transition, thank you …)

    But I seem to actually have the same problem as offthebenchbaseball above – whitelisted IP is saved, but I still can’t log in from the whitelisted IP.

    Goto menu > Security > View Logs > click Release Lockout.

    I cannot find a “release lockout” menu entry anywhere in Logs in iThemes Security.

    Please advise!

    Hello, I believe there has since been an update – however, the whitelisting problem still exists. And the awkward thing is that I then need to go via a proxy. Now there is a function whereby I can then tell the plugin to “whitelist for 24 hours” – but that works of course only with the proxy IP which may not even be clever. But when using the standard whitelist, the IP entered there is ignored.

    I had this issue with white listing not working for me because i had this message in settings => “Brute Force Protection” section:
    “Is this computer white-listed:no“.
    The problem was still there after the last different updates.

    Then, few hours ago, going on the DashBoard of the plugin, in “System Information” section then “Plublic IP Address:”, i had my IP in IPv6 format displayed. That was the problem!
    The IPv6 was enabled on my Internet Box modem. So i had to inactivated IPv6.
    Refreshing the DashBoard, the displayed Ip was correct this time (IPv4 format).
    Then going in settings => “Brute Force Protection” section i have now:
    “Is this computer white-listed:yes“.

    People that have IPv6 enable for their internet connection can have problems using some features with this plugin.
