No translation on extended custom taxonomy

Great plugin however I’m struggling with translations of my custom taxonomy (created with Pods plugin). My custom taxonomy has several extra fields so Pods plugin created new table for that purpose.
As a result Lang Switcher is not working with tags created in that taxonomy (pll_the_languages gives me no_translation = true).
Is there a way to make it work? If there is not an easy way to do it could you tell me place (method, class, file) where I can find code responsible for looking for a translation? I guess it won’t be super difficult to integrate it with pods (hard code, just for my usage).
