blanc (white) screen after update

  • Hi jhong, nice to see you’re back!
    I think allot of people would be very happy to see you do some more work on the plugin, as it stays one of the few phpBB & wordpress integration themes and runs on my sites for over 2 years. Hope you can find the time and energy.

    I just updated the plugin, but still working on WP 3.8.3 (due to other plugin problems). After the update, I have a white screen on the forum pages as well as on the phpbb admin page. I deleted the wp-united and phpbb cache via ftp, but have the same problem. No php error on screen.
    The strange thing is that I have now the same problem when downgrading to previous wp-united version, so it seems to be phpbb or the mod? Please help me out, I have allot of visitors on my forum:

  • Hello vasch, hope you made backup before all manipulations you did, so if you can rollback – do it.

    If you can’t, you need to find an error. You can look it in the error.log, catch a moment when you open your forum. If it has no errors, you can go to your wpu settings at wordpress, turn off theme integration and turn it on again, and look for new errors at the error log. And post it here.

    Oh, you also can downgrade to wpu 0.9.2.5.

    Hi Vasch. Glad to be back (sorry for the absence!) ??

    As nata-lee said, it would be good to get an error from the log to go on. did you upgrade the phpBB MOD side when upgrading/downgrading? If so, I expect something may have gone awry there.

    Thanks for all the info nata-lee & jhong.
    I had a backup which was restored, strangely with the same effect.
    Fortunately I had an older one as well (december 2013) and this one worked well.
    php error log is not existing (site hoster @ one.com), but the debugging showed me some errors, most in the wordpress-runner file: missing { , error with locate_tepmlate and so on.
    No idea why this happens! Anyway, I am waiting for some other plugin updates before I switch to wp3.9 and will then try the update again.

    Strange. You might try re-saving the WP-United settings in the admin panel. That will clear out your WP-United cache.
