• I’d tried WordPress v1.0.2. It’s so good. I like it!
But there’re some problems with it when I edit the comments.
Now v1.2 beta is coming out.
    In the file “wp-config-sample.php”:
// Change this to localize WordPress. A corresponding MO file for the
// chosen language must be installed to wp-includes/languages.
// For example, install de.mo to wp-includes/languages and set WPLANG to ‘de’
// to enable German lanuage support.
    define (‘WPLANG’, ”);
I’m wondering what the “MO file” is? Where can I get them? And How to set that?

  • hehe yeah well whatever language you need! the de_DE.po file wont help you for any other setting than de_DE though ??

I guess that shows the translators should put both the PO and MO file on the Wiki – not everyone would like to go through downloading/installing some obscure tool, find the way to save an MO out of the PO texte, and so on…
From now on, I’ll include a link to the latest MO file in the wiki. Hope that’ll helps the few French out there ??

Thank you for recommending this poEdit tool to me. It’s a pity that this tool is really too difficult for me. Can you give me more help? Or recommend some relevant websites to me, OK? Thanks!

I’ll just tag onto this thread with a *kind* request for an italian MO file.
Luca Lizzeri <[email protected]> has already translated and created a PO file which I found on the Wiki site but I was looking for an MO file…
Can the language be changed on an already running setup of WordPress?
    Bye,
    Gnam

The PO-file can be edited ith any texteditor (with special programms as poedit, too, of course).
I just msgfmted it_IT.po to it_IT.mo, fetch it at https://bronski.net/data/it_IT.mo – I hope it works, if not say so, the accented characters might have to be converted…
The language can be changed whenever you like. You just have to set the correct WPLANG in wp-config.php (note: sometimes that doesn’t seem to work. solution is to set $locale in wp-includes/wp-l10n.php instead.)

    Okay!
    Thanks so much!!!
I’ll have a go at this and let you know!
    Fingers crossed ??
