• Hello,
Thanks for this useful plug in.
It showed me all broken links with 404 which is fine.
The query is that it also showed me: “Server not found” and “Connection failed” for some links. However, these links looks like working to me. (they lead to correct page)They are marked in Orange, while “real” not working links are in red.
Is it false positive problem, or is it still something wrong with these links, despite they lead to correct address..

  • Orange warning text usually means one of two things:

    1. The error might be temporary. When the plugin tries to follow a link and gets an error like “Timeout” or “Connection failed”, it can’t really know if the linked site is gone for good or just temporarily down. So it shows those errors in orange, not red.
    2. The plugin doesn’t know how to interpret the error. Usually when it tries to access a broken link, it will get a status code like “404 Not Found”. However, some sites may respond with uncommon or non-standard errors like “450” or “999”.

As for false positives, it’s certainly a possibility. There are many, many things that can cause false positives; no catch-all solution is currently available.
