• If I edit my theme from the dashboard editor and make a syntax error (in html or in php), I sometimes get stack and I can’t come back to the editor screen again. WordPress usually prints a few lines regarding the error
To override I have to login to CPanel and edit from there. Than I’m able to get back to WordPress editor.
Is there any way to eliminate that?
    Thanks in advance

  • This is why you don’t edit theme files—ever. Use a child theme instead.

Thanks but I have 2 comments:
    1. I’m working on a fresh theme which I convert from html
    2. If I work on a child theme and make it active, would it not cause the same problems in case of syntax error?

Not sure what you mean by that. But you didn’t mention in your original post that you were working on your own theme, so my recommendation doesn’t necessarily apply.

If I work on a child theme and make it active, would it not cause the same problems in case of syntax error?

Yes, but the point is that your original theme files remain unchanged.
