Update services and post.php?

A lot of update services, especially if any are slow or not responding, will definitely cause the problem you’ve observed.

Quick test: Remove them and make a test post. Any faster without ’em all?

There’s a plugin called (I think) “NoPingWait”. Might be worth searching for and trying. It does the pinging in the background so you don’t have to wait for all the update services to respond.

Oh, and post.php should be found under the wp-admin directory.

Thanks for the help… I removed them all and it is much faster. I took some time and added a few at a time to see which ones were hanging me up… I have narrowed it down to the following that I’m using:

Should I still look for more or remove some of these? I’m assuming the more services that ping the better your blog is picked-up… any truth to that?

As long as you’re not notifying the same services repeatedly, I’m sure you’re fine.

pingomatic.com ings icerocket.com, so you might consider dropping the icerocket.com one.
