    Hello!

I am trying to create an eCommerce store using HostGator just like in the video tutorial for making eCommerce stores: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y1m3xAyVgqk

When you get to about 22 minutes into the video you will have installed WordPress 3.9 using QuickInstall on the cPanel at HostGator. You are asked to create an: Admin Email, Blog Title, Admin User, First Name, and Last Name. Next, you click the button “Install Now!”. After that, you are giving a message at the bottom of the installation saying Congratulations! It says, “Your installation is ready. You can access it now by going “here” (“here” is the link). They also give me the Admin Area. I tried clicking on both the “here” link and the Admin Area and all I get are blank web-pages! I have not done anything in cPanel of HostGator except install WordPress 3.9. I have been beating my head against a wall trying to solve this and I am not computer savvy so I do not really understand what FTP is or any other computer jargon. I should be getting WP-Admin Log-in pages to my Dashboard for my website, but instead; those blank web-pages. I heard about name changes to servers and some other things if that helps. I could not understand what to do, ran into complications.

    Thank You!

  • Have the same problem with the hostgator installation. Hope some nice people will post a help.

If you bought your domain somewhere other than HostGator, then you WILL have to change the nameservers to the HostGator nameservers. You will do that by logging into the account where you bought the domain and use their help system to find out where to do that. The HG nameservers are generally listed at the lower part of the left side panel in your HG cPanel. Be advised that it can take a number of hours for this change to become effective.

When you buy and set up hosting at a place other than where you buy your domain, just by defining which domain is to be associated with the hosting account does NOT “auto-magically” point the domain to this hosting account; YOU must do this manually, as explained above ??

The way your site is appearing to me is non-existent, not just blank.

When I look Uruk-Maya.com up in who.is, a global registration, it says the domain is available.

Is there perhaps a different domain you installed it under?

This would be why it shows as blank to you. If you recently bought it, it may not have, what we call, propagated yet. In less technical terms, it means it hasn’t fully registered with the world wide web servers.

If you recently bought it, allow up to 24 hours for it to fully register.

I want to sell my product and I want my site to be at www.remarpro.com. How to transfer my site from wordpress.com to www.remarpro.com?

    Hi, PolarBearCody and everybody!!

It was simply a web-propagation concern. The site is working just fine!
Looking at some issues beforehand seeing how when people had WordPress automatically upgraded to 3.9 their websites would not function and they were left with some pretty nasty problems. Just was worried it had to do with something like this due to the video tutorial I was watching and how the author of the video had the WordPress login for the dashboard just after getting the domain with the host. Now with greater knowledge, it is probably because she had an existing account and so making a new domain would not have allowed her to really wait too long since she is on the Baby Plan with unlimited domain names. I also do not live very close to the HQ for HostGator, so web-propagation takes longer and they had to call me to check before putting anything online.

This should help everybody. The people at HostGator ensured me that WordPress would work and that this only has to do with propagation.

    They were so right.

Thank you so much for helping me!!!!
I hope this helps some people too.

    ??

I’m glad the propagation was the issue. Thank you for letting us know how it went!

Yes, my problem is also fixed. The HG support also found out that I did not change the namerserver. I did and only a few minutes later I could see my site and could call the login area. I knew about the fact to change nameservers first if bought the domain somewhere else, but I simply overloooked it.
