    Hi,

I have a domain that I registered a long time ago (let’s call it Domain A, https://domainA.com), and made static PHP files. Well, it’s time to move on to WordPress.

I created a subdomain for my existing WordPress Multisite install which is hosted with another domain name (https://domainB.mysite.com). Now I want to point the domain I already have at that WordPress install (domainA.com –> domainB.mysite.com… without revealing the “domainB.mysite.com” in the address bar)

The domain and host are registered at the same place. So Domain A is just a domain, while Domain B is both a domain and a host (a shared host, I might add). I want Domain A to point at the WordPress install for this specific subdomain/site hosted by Domain B.

But…is it possible to do so without revealing Domain B’s URL?

I have Domain A in my cPanel as an “Add-On” domain. “Parked” Domain isn’t an option for me at this time. I’m not sure if this has the same effect, especially since the Add-On Domain forces me to select a document root, which means it’s still seeing a physical folder on my Domain B’s host, thereby displaying old info. I can enable redirection and it’ll show Domain B’s WordPress install for the subdomain I want, but it shows the URL, too!

I’m pretty sure I’ve got all the DNS bits and CNAME set up properly, but I’m not sure what else I can do, or if I HAVE to utilize a Parked Domain. Anyone have any insight?

If you use a redirect it will always show the subdomain URL. The redirect tells the visitor’s browser to load the subdomain URL.

The choice you have is park the domain or set the addon domain to point to the root of your WP install (some hosts allow you to do that).

    Hi there,

Thanks! I talked to my host and they allowed me to switch one of my available add-on domains to become a parked domain, and that did the job. Near as I can tell, everything is working fine now!

@azurite: I have the exact same issue as you! I created a subdomain by following this guide but I also want the subdomain URL to be “hidden” to visitors (I want them to see the URL of my other/old domain [Domain A in your example]). I tried the redirect method as suggested above but it’s still showing the URL for the subdomain. ??

    Any help? Thanks in advance…
