Password Protected page doesn't work

  • I’ve got a page that I set to Password Protected and gave it a password.

    When I navigate to the page and enter the password the page acts like it’s going to a new page but it just refreshes and shows the password page again. It’s a simple password ‘aaa’ so I know I’m typing it correctly.

    I’ve changed the theme to twenty-fourteen and that didn’t fix it. Then I went through the plugins one by one and disabling them didn’t fix it either.

    I’m kind of at a loss as to what to try next.

    I’m using theme The 7. But I doubt it’s a theme issues since it happened with twenty-fourteen theme also.

    Help?

    If the page content is not overly sensitive can you post a link to it here? Or if it is sensitive can you create a new dummy page with a simple password and share?

    This would allow us to duplicate the behavior you are experiencing.

    I’ve tried password protecting any page and the same thing happens.

    Here’s a test page.

    The password is ‘asdf’ without single quotes.

    Have you thought about a simple membership plugin? Most are free and work really simple…to me a better option than password protecting pages. Less of a headache…

    Never got it to work. I did use a free membership plugin that would let me password one page.

    I’ve the same problem. Everybody got the same problem with password protected page across actual and past wordpress version.
    it seems it has never worked good.

    @wondercore, please start your own thread and include details describing the behavior that you’re experiencing, including a link to the page that you’re having trouble with. The volunteers here will be better able to try and help you that way.
