Flickering on update to 3.9

Since an upgrade to 3.9 all the transitions in the slider (at least the ones I’ve tested, eg boxRainReverse , sliceDownRight flicker and don’t happen smoothly.
Fade works.
Is this just unfixable (given that this plugin is now deprecated) ?
