Home page title showing title of first page, not site title

I have the same issue.

The theme I’m using generates the homepage itself, so there is no “page” to edit. Is yours the same?

It’s pulling in the Meta Title and Description from whatever my latest post is, rather than what I’ve set in the theme and I can’t see any way to manually edit this.

Apologies, I wasn’t intending to interrupt, I thought that another site having the same issue may have helped in finding the root cause.

That’s unlikely. Even if you have similar symptoms, the root cause may be very different. As you will see, one of forum’s guidelines – entitled Where to Post – specifically states:

Unless you are using the same version of WordPress on the same physical server hosted by the same hosts with the same plugins, theme & configurations as the original poster, do not post in someone else’s thread. Start your own topic.

I’ve just figured out my issue. If your theme is similar to mine in that the homepage isn’t a “page” then it may help you too.

The options to set homepage title and description only appear within Yoast if you do not have your front page set to be a Static Page. Now that I’ve changed mine to show my blog posts (even though it doesn’t) I get the option to overwrite the homepage title and description and it doesn’t grab it from another page anymore.

My issue is solved to by going to Appearance -> Reading -> Static Home Page – Your Latest Posts”
