Visual Edit tab missing on one page only

When I the web site I’m maintaining, every page shows both the Visual and Text tabs for editing except the “Home” page. It opens in Text mode, has no Visual tab, and I can’t find any way to turn it on. This occurs in IE 11 and Chrome v34 running in Windows 8.1 on two different computers.

Obviously I have the visual edit option enabled. Nevertheless, I tried turning it off, and it disappeared everywhere. Turned it back on and it reappeared everywhere except the “Home” page.

I shall be grateful for help and advice resolving this problem.

I’m new to working with WordPress, but I’ve drilled through every program and user profile setting I can unearth, to no avail. So if this is fixable through the interface, please talk to me like I don’t know what I’m doing. And if it has to be fixed outside WordPress interface, talk to me like I really don’t know what I’m doing.

I searched the forums and Googled the web before posting, but found nothing to help me.
