How to remove url charcater extenstion strings?

  • How to remove the mobile/desktop url addon which adds another duplicate url to search engines.. and also a handful of others…

    url ‘extensions’ such as these:
    ?wpmp_switcher=desktop
    ?wpmp_tp=1
    ?newwindow=true
    ?cpage=1

    For Jan Dembowski wherever you are…. the ONLY reason I added the post elsewhere was because I thought that was what I was being instructed to do… “via post requests” – I don’t know what that means… and posting elsewhere was my interpretation.

    I may be mis-reading it but it seems like you want to have the search engines ignore those other URLs. Have you considered different options in your robots.txt file?

    Thanks Jan… the problem is… that Google has indexed these additional urls and I cannot remove them from the index… I could block access to them via robots.txt but that won’t remove them…
