    Hello.

I downloaded a local copy of my website. I’m using XAMP. I set up a new theme and configured it offline so the site wouldn’t be down while I made the changes. Created the packages, downloaded the package and installer file. Tried to install the new design using the installer everything seemed fine. There were no errors and 1 warning:

“WP-CONFIG WARNING: The wp-config.php has one or more of these values “WP_CONTENT_DIR, WP_CONTENT_URL, WPCACHEHOME, COOKIE_DOMAIN, WP_SITEURL, WP_HOME, WP_TEMP_DIR” which may cause issues please validate these values by opening the file.”

I looked in the wp-config.php file and it has WPCACHEHOME which is there from a the wp cache plugin. I don’t that is my issue however. There is no Resave Permalinks option. Instead it says Save permalinks. When I click this link and when I click the test site links it takes me to the wordpress installer file as if I am installing a brand new website. The first time I encountered this, I ran the wp-installer.php and it did infact in stall a new site, with no content. Fortunately, I have wp-twin and was able to restore my old site using this plugin. However, wp-twin does not work locally so I can not copy the new site I am trying to get from my computer to the server.

I tried the duplicator process again, this time on a subdomain with no previous wp installation. The same exact issue occurs. When I access the server via FTP I see all the files there as if it worked. Duplicator say s it set up 70 tables… but when you go to the site it requests that I install wordpress. MY web host is HostGator. I don’t have a link included to my site because I am just going to throw it in maintenance mode and install the them / configure it all over again, this time on the server.

I was trying to avoid the downtime.. and of course, I can’t get back the initial time spent on re-configuration, but I’m so incredibly frustrated and I have been on this since 6am (5 hours already) trying to find a solution.

Is this a known issue and I just can’t find the post? If not, maybe your response can help someone else or in the future if I try to go down this path again.

    Thanks,

  • Hey Minnieminnie,

Double check the wp-config.php file and make sure you don’t have any dynamic variables setup for the string portion of the define values.

    Hope that helps!
