• This is a pretty basic question, but all that I’ve read on the forums and codex don’t really spell out the answer to this one. I have a blog set up under a page, which lists excerpts of the different posts. This page is set up as with a left sidebar. The page does not show the sidebar on the side, it only shows the sidebar on the bottom.

How do I get the sidebar on the side, not the footer widgets to show on this page?

I also want to show all of the post, not just the excerpt. Where do I set this? Thanks for this basic info, I’m sure this confuses more people than just me, by the number of times this has been asked.

  • hey there………what i get after viewing your website that right now you are using genesis framework theme………..move all the widgets from your footer1,footer2,footer3 widget area to your primary sidebar widget area then you are able to see all your footer widgets in the left sidebar……..and also check that you have selected the left sidebar layout for the blog page or not from the layout setting that is on the bottom of page editor

I am using the widgets in the footers on the other pages, using Dynamic Widgets plugin to control what pages the widgets are on, so that shouldn’t be the factor. That’s all set up right. It’s the sidebar itself that is not showing up, even tho it is selected on the blog page. yes it’s selected on the page layout section under the page editor – where else can it be selected? This is what I’m missing I think.

ok tell me one thing that are you seeing widget area named “primary sidebar” in your widgets section of theme and……have you developed your own custom child theme for your website……………if you have then check that you have done the right coding for the primary sidebar widget area

Yes, the sidebar works fine on the contact page, https://192.185.150.46/~designsb/contact-donna/ so it’s not the sidebar coding. It’s where do I access the sidebar layout for the blog page?

The child theme was changed for the looks, not the functionality at all. That’s getting deeper into the coding than I go.
