ok so, it seems you just go ahead and replace every living sidebar ever for a docs singular post… why was it done this way? Can’t you just target the blog’s primary-sidebar and be done with it? I want to add footer widgets and stuff, but it just all gets overwritten by your doc-sidebar. Kinda inconvenient ?? Although, I have enjoyed working with your plugin, just frustrated with this one aspect of it ha

Footer widgets don’t get overwritten on any of the default WordPress themes (Twenty Fourteen, Twenty Thirteen, and Twenty Twelve). This plugin is meant to work with default WP behavior.

If you’re using a custom theme that uses different sidebar IDs, rather than using default WordPress IDs, I now provide an option to exclude those in “Docs –> Settings”. (See how to find sidebar IDs)

I did it this way to be able target the highest number of custom themes out there. If I wanted to target only Twenty Fourteen, then I would only target “sidebar-2” for the Content Sidebar. But in all probability, that would not work with most themes. I wanted to target the most themes to make it as convenient as possible.

If there’s a better way to do this, please feel free to contribute or hack it on GitHub.

    Re: Disabling comments
I will add this option in the next update.

Hi, please note that on many new themes that offer ‘unlimited’ sidebars (i.e. one per page!) it will be undoable to search for all sidebar ID’s you want to exclude.

So maybe you can also add an option to include the menu on certain ID’s as well?

(or maybe even easier: create a shortcode for the menu, that can be entered in whichever sidebar (text-widget) that you want).

The option to disable comments for Docs is available in version 1.2.2.

This is resolved in version 2.0. It no longer replaces the theme’s sidebars. Version 2.0 uses new templates.

Please note: 2.0 has many changes. Please read the changelog (section 2.0) for details.
