• I went to settings > general > and changed the location from
    https://www.mearsroofs.com/test
    to
    https://www.mearsroofs.com

    without doing anything else that I was supposed to do…

    So I tried to find the current theme on the FTP server so that I could go find the files and make the changes but the theme I was using wasn’t there. I think it was called go daddio or something like that….

    I also tried to install wordpress on the main directory and that didn’t seem to help so I uninstalled it. But it’s still installed on /test

    Is there any way to get all my work back?

  • Edit your wp-config.php file and add

    define('WP_HOME','https://www.mearsroofs.com/test');
    define('WP_SITEURL','https://www.mearsroofs.com/test');

    You won’t be able to edit them on the General settings page anymore when using this method.

    Thanks!
    So it seems to have redirected my home page so i can go to /test page and that is there.

    The other links don’t work

    and the admin site takes me to a different login page than before and my normal login doesn’t seem to work.

    Thank you so much for helping me!!!

    Also,

    I tried resetting that password for the user page which it allowed me to reset but still can’t login to the admin page.

    I see you dont have your wordpress folders (wp-admin, wp-includes) in the test folder.. can you copy your wordpress folders to the test folder..

    They are in there and also they are in the main directory.

    Here’s what I’ve done so far

    changed the location the main directory
    realized I screwed up and copied the files over to the main directory in case that could fix it
    I then installed wordpress on the main directory
    that didn’t do anything so I uninstalled wordpress from the main dir. (it’s still on test though)
    I added the lines above to wp-config

    this allowed me to see the home page better that I had created but the login page doesn’t work

    I just updated the function.php that was in the most recent theme (although the files from that theme are from two days ago…)

    now my login page looks normal but my user name and login still don’t work.
