  • Had a similar issue when upgrading NGG on one of my sites. The update crashed the entire site, resulting in no output on both frontend and backend. Rolled back to 2.0.40 and even that didn’t work until I rolled back ngg_options in the wp_options table.

@denissemarie – Thanks for submitting a Bug Report on this issue, I responded to it earlier today. We can carry this conversation forward there.

@paulmighty – Thanks for your input, did you have specific steps you followed to do the roll back you are describing?

    – Cais.

@photocrati – as I said in my previous comment, the new version of NGG replaces the ngg_options serialized data in wp_options, so I rolled ngg_options back to what was in my db when I was running 2.0.40. Also, removed all the 2.0.58 plugin files and rolled back to the 2.0.40 plugin. I always do a DB backup for comparison when I upgrade NGG, for when updates do not go smoothly, as in this instance.

    My WordPress setup:
    WP 3.8.1
    Multisite Network

    Network Activated Plugins:
    Admin Color Schemer
    Advanced Custom Fields
Advanced Custom Fields: NextGen Gallery Custom Field
    Advanced Custom Fields: Repeater Field
    BackupBuddy
    Google Analytics for WordPress
    Gravity Forms
    Gravity Forms Campaign Monitor Add-On
    Installer
    JSON API
    NextGEN Gallery by Photocrati
    Post Type Icons
    Post Types Order
    User Switching
    Visitor Country
    White Label CMS
    WordPress Importer
    WordPress SEO

    Subsite Activated Plugins:
    Advanced Taxonomy Terms Order
    Comments Plus
    File Un-Attach
    Login With Ajax
    Simple Image Sizes
    TinyMCE Advanced

I attempted to deactivate all the subsite activated plugins, but that did not fix the issue, so it was at this point that I abandoned NGG 2.0.58 and reverted back to 2.0.40.

@paulmighty – Thanks for those details, they are much appreciated. Did you happen to notice if there were any errors before you rolled back?

    – Cais.

@photocrati – also explained in my original comment:

“The update crashed the entire site, resulting in no output on both frontend and backend.”

Turned debug on and off in wp-config, but that had no effect.

@paulmighty – I’m just looking for clues but I’m not seeing anything in your list of plugins that looks like it would be an issue; and, a default Multisite install has not proven to cause any issues in our testing.

    – Cais.

@photocrati – are you testing with a fresh install of the 2.0.58 plugin or are you testing by upgrading from from a previous version with legacy data in the DB? The NGG plugin has been running on my site for years. Maybe that makes a difference. Also, my server is running PHP 5.4.4 and MySQL 5.5.25, if that helps your testing.

@paulmighty – We generally test both updated and fresh installations during our internal beta rounds … and I don’t see those versions of PHP and MySQL having any contributing factors but good to know all the same.

    Thanks!

    – Cais.

    Gents,

I just updated NEXTgen Gallery for a multisite network. The main site is the only site which has both front and back end intact — the other 5 sites are either occasionally looping the domain with the sub-domain and/or don’t show individual site images.

I set WP_DEBUG to False and could see nothing that would indicate.

Please see: https://miadventureracing.com/ and click any sub-site link to see what I’m getting at…

The only image that is showing is hard-coded to the main site which is still showing both site and admin properly: https://miadventureracing.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/MAR-210px.png

    Also, see: https://3cstudio.com/temp/miar-admin-screenshot.png
for what the admin area looks like. I’m stumped. Any thoughts? I would greatly appreciate any assistance/feedback… thanks in advance!

any time frame on when there will be a new update? All pages on website are blank except home and the blog at : summerislandstudio.com. Have deactivated as many of the other plug ins as possible to see if there was a conflict and nothing changed. This site has now been down for a couple of days.

    Thanks for your assistance.

Just found that my issue is tied to nginx, not this plugin.

@jeeoc – It would probably be best for you to start your own topic.

@3cstudio – I would recommend the same as well, if something new comes up, but also thank you for taking the time to respond with your findings.

    Thanks!

    – Cais.

Photocrati- started a new thread as was requested on the very day you suggested it… and no one has ever commented on that thread with help for the problem. My site is still down. since this update was done. The second update did not resolve the situation. How can I get some attention?
    thank you

@jeeoc – If we are not able to attend to a specific topic in the forums you are always welcome to submit a Bug Report (https://www.nextgen-gallery.com/report-bug/) with your specific site details.

We also generally only review “current” topics so there are times when older topics may not get seen. We do apologize if this issues are critical but we can only do so much with the resources we have available. We try to help end-users in these forums as best we can but our Support Team’s primary focus is targeted at Bug Reports and our NextGEN Pro subscribers.

    Thanks!

    – Cais.

PS: I’ll try to find your older post (from a week ago?) C.

PPS: I went back 11 pages (2 weeks old) and did not see an any single post topics by you. I can only surmise someone else responded if we did not as I do not recall your specific topic. C.

Latest NextGenGallery update blanked out the site pages. Hope page and the blog page only thing working.
The content is still on the back end but cannot see on the front end.
    website is summerislandstudio.com

I have deactivated the other plugins so the conflict is not there…

please advise as soon as possible.
    thank you

This issue is almost a week old at this point.. I had listed on another thread that was having a similar problem, and then was advised to begin my own thread…
Would appreciate some information and or acknowledgement.
The issue has not corrected itself.
Are you working on a fix in to coding to the recent update… or?

    Thanks you for a reply.
