• I am able to use the Add Media Button on a Mac using Firefox. and it works as expected.

but when I use a Windows with Firefox the Add Media Button doesn’t open the first Lightbox, thickbox dialog to start uploading images.

*when i refer to lightbox I’m talking about the default wordpress lightbox that opens up when you usually click on add media.

Also define('CONCATENATE_SCRIPTS', false); does not work

  • Have you tried using another computer? The modal box is appearing in Win/Firefox for me on all of my sites and for millions of other WP users, so this would appear to be a purely local browser problem.

I’m unable to get the Add Media Button to work in Chrome, Safari, or Firefox right now. Unsure what it could be? I have never had a problem until now.

I am running WordPress 3.8.1 with the SilverOrchid theme (modified quite a bit).

Just noticed the Add Media Button stopped working once I began using the Lightbox Pop plugin. I have since disabled the plugin and it still doesn’t work.

    The site is https://tapintoteenminds.com

    Any help would be appreciated!

I am having the same problem as MadMan and Kyle. My Add media button shows empty image gallery when I try and add photos to a page, but it definitely isn’t empty. I have disabled plugins.

    Hi jvanstone:

I can’t even get the Add Media popup to appear. Nothing happens at all.

Upon further inspection, the add media button works with XYZScript’s Lightbox Pop plugin when modifying the content inside the popup, but not in posts or pages.

I disabled the plugin… no luck.

I then deleted the plugin… still no luck.

Have no idea what the deal is.

FYI – I went through my plugins, one-by-one, and it turned out to be a plugin that had an update a few days ago. Once disabled, things went back to normal.

Thanks for the help & good luck to MadManSam as he searches for a solution.

I had the same problems and everything I tried failed. define(‘CONCATENATE_SCRIPTS’, false); fixed some issues I was having with the text tab, but image upload button still didn’t work.

After inspecting the page in my browser, I noticed that wp-backbone.js was showing a 404 (not found) error. It turns out this file wasn’t installed when I upgraded my WordPress to the latest version (3.8.1). I downloaded a fresh copy of WordPress 3.8.1 and uploaded the JS files from wp-includes/js to my server.

This fixed the issue for me!
