I had installed an SSL certificate on my site. However, it seems the secured https versions of posts that search engines started indexing as a result of installing the certificate, took readers to unformatted posts without images.

In wanting to return to the original http, I asked my host (Bluehost) to remove the certificate as I don’t really need it. I just added it because it came free with renewal. I have used Google Webmaster Tools already to request re-indexing of my site. But it seems that somewhere my website is still pointing to the https versions.

Interestingly, not all of my posts are affected (this was the case even before the SSL certificate was removed). But very importantly, it affects my homepage and many of our most popular posts. You can get to them directly by typing in the correct http version of URLs, but not if you use a search engine to find them (which is how most people get to our site).

This error comes up when you click through to affected articles in search results:
    Secure Connection Failed

An error occurred during a connection to notesofnomads(dot)com. SSL received a record that exceeded the maximum permissible length. (Error code: ssl_error_rx_record_too_long)

Bluehost said that they are unable to assist. If anyone can help me in locating where my site might be pointing to the https version of posts and how I can rectify this, I would really, really appreciate it.

    Many thanks.
