Hi, Recently ive started updating my website and ive added a new page to the navigation menu, however i have a landing page that makes you log on before you can see the menu or any content of the website but with this new page i cant seem to hide it on the menu, if you click it on it will redirect you to the landing page but i want it so it doesn’t show at all unless you’re logged in.

Thanks for any help in advance.

    Hi @lewis Brown,

    I hope you’re well today! ??

So the menu “should” be hidden but it’s not, correct?

Could you maybe get us a screenshot of the rules you have setup for that Access Level?

Also, could you let us know the following:
    – Membership itself is enabled.
    – That Access Level is Activated.
    – When you’re testing, you’re using an account that has that Access Level.

Looking forward to sorting this with ya! ??

    Thanks,
    David

Here is the image https://imgur.com/HXhBaYr, “welcome to club scooba is the page everyone can view”

And correct it should be hidden as the others are but for some reason this one page doesn’t seem to be hidden (its the Testimonials page)

    – Membership itself is enabled.
    – That Access Level is Activated.
    – When you’re testing, you’re using an account that has that Access Level.
All of these i am doing.

I its a weird one because all my “old” pages are setup so that you can only see them when logged in but for some reason i just cant get this “testimonials” page to be hidden from the people who arnt logged in.

    Many thanks,
    Lewis

I’ll show you some screenshots to try and show what i mean better.

Here is what my site lookes like when you are logged in https://imgur.com/WvHsIYr
As you can see i have pages on the navigation menu

However if i view my site as a person who isnt logged in this is what it looks like.
    https://imgur.com/huDWDc0
As you can see on this one all other pages are hidden but this one “testimonials” page isn’t

So long story short i want to hide the “Testimonails” page so you cant see it just like the other pages.

Hope this makes sense and helps!!

    Many Thanks

    Hi @lewis Brown,

Thanks for clarifying all that and providing those screenshots. That definitely helps.

So the issue is that the Testimonial page isn’t hidden like the rest of the pages, correct?

Is a visitor able to access that page publicly?

Also, how was that created? Is it a standard WordPress Page you made through the page editor?

    Thanks,
    David

    Hi,

    Sorry for the delay.

That’s correct the issue is the Testimonial page isn’t hidden.

If a visitor clicks on that page it will send them back to the landing page so therefore they can’t access the page.

It was also made through the page editor built into WordPress.

    Hope this helps!

    Hi @lewis,

Thanks for clarifying all of that. Could you please verify that you don’t have a duplicate Testimonials page? Perhaps another page named Testimonials that exists further down your Page list?

If possible, could you try copy the content from that page, deleting it, then re-creating it to see how that works?

I’m just really curious as to why that page would show yet the others don’t.

Looking forward to getting this sorted! ??

    Cheers,
    David

    Hi David,
I can confirm that there isn’t a duplicate page.

I’ve tried re-creating the page and that still didn’t work ??

I think we’re both curious to why this isn’t working!

    Thanks for the help.

    Hi @lewis Brown,

Thanks for looking into that. Fortunately, the Testimonials page itself is restricted so the rule is definitely being applied.

It seems like this has to do with how that menu is setup.

Could you possibly provide screenshot of the menu (Appearance > Menus) showing that menu item along with any of the other menu items?

Alternatively, is that being done as a custom link in the menu?

    Thanks,
    David

    Hi David,

Sorry for the late reply my work load has been insane!

Here is a screenshot of my menu page https://imgur.com/ENQdc4d

From what I’ve seen i cant see any difference between the Testimonial page and any other page that is hidden.

    Thanks for the help!!

    Hi @lewis Brown,

Thanks for that screenshot. I do see that it’s a Page menu item so it technically should just work.

Could I ask for you to delete that menu item, then save the menu, and then create a new menu item for that Page?

Also, by any chance, does it still show up even if you move it to a different location in the menu? Perhaps you could try moving it to the top of the menu (or first item)?

That’ll just help to know it’s somehow related to the menu position or some similar oddity.

Thanks for your patience with this! ??

    Hi David,

I can confirm that moving the page to a different location hasn’t worked.

I’ve made a new menu and now they all show! It must be something to do with the menu settings. I’m looking at them now to see if i can find anything to give me a hint!

    Thanks for all the help!.

    Hi Lewis,

Okay that’s really strange! I’d love to get this sorted though. Could you try deleting the Page rule in that access level, saving that change, then re-creating it using a Positive rule?

You can then select just the Page(s) you want visitors to see.

Perhaps re-creating the rule itself will sort it but switching to an opposite rule could possibly help as well.

If that doesn’t sort it, could you please go to Membership > Advanced and press the “Verify Membership Tables” button?

That’ll help us to know if there’s a database issue here.

    Thanks,
    David

    Hi David,

Sorry for the late reply again!

Ive recreated the page rule only adding one page to the positive rule and it still shows the menu. I also delete the whole access level and made a new one but that didn’t work either.

I’ve also Verified my membership tables and it’s all “OK”

    Many thanks for your patience.

    Hi @lewis Brown,

I’m sure something’s missing here but it’s hard to tell in this case without seeing the configuration of your site.

Would it be possible to grant admin access so I could take a look at all the settings? If so, you can send details through our contact form here:
    https://premium.wpmudev.org/contact/

You can simply select “I have another question” and for the subject include “ATTN David”. Including a link to this thread in the message would help as well.

Other than that though, is there anything different about this particular menu item, as opposed to other menu items?

Is it a custom link or a simple Page link?

Looking forward to sorting this. ??

    Thanks,
    David

    Hi David,

I’ve sent you the login details through the link you sent me.

And from what i know its a normal menu that has been sent from the appearance page in the admin panel.

    Thanks for the help.
