No Follow, No Index Issue Before Launch Issue

I have had an issue for a while with the Yoast Plugin for a while now, that I just noticed on two different websites.
On the two websites, we had launched a new website for the clients with a few pages that we classified as no follow, no index with the yoast plugin at the page level and we were going to add content to those pages at a later date. Once I received the content for the new pages, I added the content and then went to make the pages follow, index and updated the page. But once I updated the page, they changed back to the no index, no follow tag.
Don’t know if this is a bug with the plugin? I contacted out host (WPEngine) and they said it was a plugin issue.
