You’ll want a child theme for this. The tutorial pretty much tells you what you need. The real question is where do you put that stuff? The HTML markup goes on the template used for each element on your page. This is probably content.php, but the correct template is theme dependent. The CSS portion goes on your child theme’s style.css.
