Twenty Twelve Menu Not Working on Mobile and on Minimized Screen

My menu does not work on mobile or on my regular pc screen when my window is small. I created my site using the wordpress twenty twelve theme.

I have a child theme activated. I believe my issue lies somewhere within the child, because when I live preview the parent theme the menu works. Because of this I do not think that it is anything to do with plugins on my site.

I saw this forum posting here and because of this I added all my child theme code within brackets for a media query of 600 px or less. This changed the menu to be against a white background on mobile and small-screen (previously it was against black like my full-screen site). However, it did not fix the issue of the menu not working. I click on the menu button and nothing happens.
