Excerpt or introduction on home page; full article

  • Hi,
    Can you have an intro on the home with with a Read More link to the full article/post in the category section for that post in WordPress?
    I just started using WP, have used MT, and would like to structure things that way. I find it a little cleaner on the home page.

  • Yes you can. After typing the intro, use the <!–more–> tag. It’ll create the “More” link automatically. I belive there’s a quick link in the editor for it, as well as for creating multiple pages too.

    in case they’re not explicit, they are both encoded in html style comments, that is “<! –” to start and “– >” to end (minus the spaces between the symbols… to avoid mangling here…)
    The page break is “nextpage”, the more tag is “more”.
