Facebook Override and SEO/Meta data Image Not Working on Page

I’m trying to specify what image/text shows up on a Facebook share post when someone clicks the Facebook share button on my pages. I found out about Yoast, downloaded it, and started editing the seo/meta data for my home page. At first, it was working fine. Then I wanted re-change the SEO title, facebook override image, and some of the description text. It keeps pulling up the slightly outdated SEO title and it will pull up the pop-up window at full size, then it will shrink to about 300 pixels deep and cover half of the FB post…and also won’t show an image at ALL.
Be gentle with me. I need a laymans answer.
