Showing thumbnails on excerpt posts

    I currently have my blog set to show the first post and show an excerpt of the other posts. The thumbnails will show on excerpt posts with a featured image.

    Instead of editing every single post and setting a featured image for each post, is it possible to automatically grab the first image in the post (or any image in the post really) for the excerpt thumbnails??

    I tried using the Thumbnail For Excerpts plugin without any success.

    Hello!

    The theme does not offer this feature, so your only option is to find suitable plugin. The plugin you mention hasn’t been updated in a long time. I found another one you might try – Auto Featured Image. Although it also hasn’t been updated in a while, I tested it with Sugar & Spice and it works as expected. After activation you need to navigate to Settings >Auto Featured Image and generate thumbnails.
