Does it have any effect when deactivated?

When I deactivate WP Super cache, I still see evidence of it in the page source of my pages. I know that I could follow the uninstall steps to completely remove it. However, I would like to compare WP Super Cache vs other performance plugins, so I don’t want to completely uninstall it yet. If I deactivate WP Super Cache, is it still doing anything? I don’t mind residual files just hanging around, but I don’t want it to be having an impact on my site’s functioning or performance when deactivated.
