Yes, you can go to the Subscribe To Comments Reloaded Settings and in you admin panel to change the notification to any user.
If you are a user that don’t have access to the admin panel don’t worry, there is a manage subscription link where you can modify the type of delivery.
i’m not sure i understood
i have and admin and a post author
if someone posts a comment on the author’s post, the author gets the standard wordpress notification rather than the message set in the subscribe to comments reloaded settings.
am i doing something wrong?and to add: the admin gets the subscribe to comments reloaded notification
what i need is that the post author get the subscribe to comments reloaded notification, not the admin
in the options tab i have also selected YES for Subscribe authors but still the author gets the standard notification from wordpress
any help?
Hi staceppa, I’m having the same issue. Did you get a resolution?
Nope with only this plugin.
I had to use 2 plugins.
One is Subscribe To Comments Reloaded
but in order for the author of the post to receive a notification i had to use Custom Comment Notification.
Basically this plugin, Subscribe To Comments Reloaded, does not seem to work for the first notification to the post author and the author of the plugin is not really present on this forum to help with this.Hello Guys, I apologize for not been around. I will try to replicate the issue, but could you please open a issue ticket on GitHub ? We can track the issue faster on GitHub. You can use this form:
Regards !!
done!
Thank you !!
Thanks, staceppa. I’ll check it out.
Thanks, Reedyseth – great plugin.
Staceppa, did you ever find any solution for this? I, and apparently a few others, have the same issue.
I see the ticket you opened on Github is still unresolved, so no answers in there for us yet.
I just added this plugin to my Business Review Blog about week ago. Still do not have comments, so cant say how its really working.
My concern is to find also 2-in-1 plugin: Comment Notification+Comment Subscribe. Is there any ideas?Hello guys sorry for not keeping track of your messages, there is a lot of work to do.
Let me see if I understand.
1.- In your blog you are de admin Ok ?
2.- Also you have another user that is allow to create a new post Ok ?
3- So when someone comments on his/her post the author does not receive the subscribe to comments notification but the WordPress notification instead, am I right ?
Subscribe to comments has a Option named Subscribe Authors (Automatically subscribe authors to their own articles (not retroactive).)
4- Is this the option that you say that is not working ?
Regards.!!
Hi, Reedyseth. My issue seems identical or similar to the OP, so I don’t mean to hijack the thread by answering your questions, but if I do perhaps it will help everyone.
1. Yes
2. Yes
3. Yes, although my issue is limited to comments made on posts made in a custom post type. Comments on default post types work fine, and the author shows as subscribed. But the Subscribe 2 Comments notification still comes through, only in addition to the default WP Mail notice, and the Subscribe 2 Comments notice gets sent approximately 3 hours after. Weird. The default WP Mail notice comes instantly. I tried this with various email accounts and setups and same result. This happens even though the post author doesn’t even show as subscribed.
To rule out it being an issue with my site or CPT I tried a few different comment email plugins and all work fine. I also tried it on a few different sites with different themes and CPT’s created through different methods, and same result.
4. Yes, but only with authors of custom post type posts.
I hope that info helps you resolve the issue for everyone. I really want to get this working, as I’ve tried every other comment notification plugin out there and this is easily the best one. Thanks for your help on this.
Hello Guys, I have done the following:
- Create a new user
- Create a new Post with this new user. Before I publish the post I made sure that the Subscribe Authors is set to Yes.
- Publish the post.
- Added a new comment to the post with a public user. The next following this step is that a received a notification from wordpress with all the links to manage the post. Also I received a mail from StCR notifying me about the new comment.
To me everything seems normal, maybe I am not have the same settings as you. I also checked about the message taking so much to deliver and it didn’t happened to me. @gfrank Do you have many subscribers? Maybe your hosting take noticed of this and holds the email since there are many email sent at once.
I am willing to create a video to show you my steps.
The subscribers now are just my test users, since it’s a site still under development. So that’s 3 users so far, one to post, one to comment, and then admin.
I also get the same result as you with the same setup, but things break down when using custom post types.
It doesn’t seem to be an email provider issue, as I tried on different sites that use different hosts and different email providers. But more tellingly, the post author doesn’t even get added as a subscriber.
