Fourteen: Slider to replace header image (above menu)= possible?

Would anyone know how to insert a slider instead of a fixed image in the header above the top navigation menu in Twenty Fourteen (I am using a child theme of 2014)?
There are numerous sliders available as free plugins, but where to insert coding for any of those to show in the header? There is a slider with the “Featured “ image in 2014, but it is below the main menu and I want it above… Thanks!
