I have been using this plug in flawlessly for over a year and love it.
Recently i made some updates to the calendar layout (admin menu, events–>formatting) such as making the event title a <h3> and adding a thumbnail. Nothing huge.
Anyway, I don’t know where or how i managed to do it, but when i am adding events, the locations no longer autocompleting. This really sucks and i am getting tons of duplicate location entries now. Can someone help fix.
    thanks.

did you updated any of your other plugins or themes recently? and/or you are using custom functions or modify any templates?

i did update other plugins. . I am not using custom functions and i don’t believe i modified any templates. I thought about reinstalling the plug in. Would i wipe out my events if i did that?

It’s worth testing with the default WordPress theme and with all other plugins deactivated to see if there’s a Javascript conflict somewhere.

You can reinstall the plugin without losing any data but you might want to try the above first, as that the more likely problem.

If you can post a link to your site that might help us see what the problem is.

    Thanks for the advice.
Deleted plug in and reinstalled; no change (autocomplete still not working). Is there a particular plug in template file where that is specified where i can check and make sure the code is correct?

here is the anon user event-add page: https://changeofpace.com/events/event-directors-add-an-event/

This is the calendar: https://changeofpace.com/events/ not sure that matters

Most events are not user-added but rather added by an admin, within wordpress

Tried de-activating every single plug in except Events Manager to see if that fixed problem. Did not.

Nervous to change to default WP theme and then change back; i have made a lot of customizations to existing theme…
However in the time frame of when the autocomplete stopped working and now… i have not updated nor touched any css or theme template pages.. nothing.
I have tried this on multiple browsers to make sure it is not a browser issue (IE, Firefox)
    Thanks in advance

    This page
    https://changeofpace.com/events/event-directors-add-an-event/
    works fine for me.

It’s possible you’ve got an old / badly loaded version of the Javascript files in your browser cache. You might want to try clearing them out and restarting your ‘puter.

    @caimin_nwl
You tried to fill in my above form at https://changeofpace.com/events/event-directors-add-an-event/ and the Locations Auto-completed (or tried to) for you?

I cleared my browser’s cache, did a java update, restarted computer, applied all the updates, restarted again, and it still does not work for me either on that page, or inside the admin panel.

So i tried three other computers, both firefox and IE. None of them are auto completing the location. I even tried going on to a different network, just in case, still no change.

To clarify – the form is working fine, but what i am not able to see work is the auto-complete of the Event Location (eg. start typing venue name “Civic Park” and the various Civic Parks pop up)

Thank again to anyone with any advice

Any customisations to the theme itself won’t be lost, they’ll still be there when you reactivate. Widgets should be restored too. The only unknown is theme options, if the theme provides such a thing.

You could always use a tool like serverpress.com to try this out on a test site.

Does the autocomplete fail on both the front-end and back-end add event forms?

    Thanks

    Thread Starter jeannineJ9

    (@jeanninej9)

    Yes, it fails on both

The page I tested was https://changeofpace.com/events/event-directors-add-an-event/ – but that’s coming up as not found now.

What browser / versions are you testing on?

So – i deleted the plug in entirely. Reinstalled (which is probably why the page didn’t come up for you-should be back up now). I realize i lost allll my events (I should have tried the plug in reset option first – oh well.) Anyway … the long and short of it is that it is still not autocompleting.
I have tried Firefox and IE8 on both Win 7 and Win 8
    Firefox is UTD.
    Tried on Chrome version 31.0.1650.63
Downloaded and checked that java is UTD
    still no luck.

Since i deleted all my events the only location in there currently that might auto complete is “Central Park”

This is nothing to do with Java, I think maybe you’re confusing it with Javascript.

The autocomplete isn’t working for me this time. It could be a Javascript conflict caused by either your theme or another plugin. To test if it is, can you switch to the default theme and deactivate all other plugins.

If that brings autocomplete back, re-activate each in turn until you find the one that causes the problem.
